When the Telly is On

My grandmother sat by the telly, Slowly nodding off, When I asked her, "Why not go to bed, then?" She said, "I'm not tired enough."

I doubt she was even watching, But to sleep means being alone. Better safe in the soothing company That you get when the telly is on.

Still, she finally gave up the battle, Her tired face hidden by hair And I hope that in dreams, she meets people That in real life are no longer there.
